San Salvador in the 1940s and 50s
I found these two wonderful, slient film clips depicting San Salvador in 1946 and 1958, from the Human Studies Film Archives, Smithsonian Institution, Washington DC.
A time before urban sprawl destroyed the coffee farms that almost encircled the city; a time before the civil war erected walls and barbed wire at every stoop. San Salvador looks green and inviting.
The first, from 1946.
And, the second, from 1958.
I have found other interesting videos I hope to share later.
